Combined Martial Arts Academy, (C.M.A.A), the Gold Coasts leading Self-Defence and Character Development Academy was established over 25 years ago by a man with a vision. Founder, Shihan Bill Wakefield wanted to change people perception of what Martial Arts is about. So at Combined Martial Arts Academy we focus on the systematic teaching of common values that cut across ethnic, cultural, and religious lines. These values include: honesty,repect,responsablility,integrity,courage,tolerance,justice,self-confedence and politness.

At C.M.A our mission is to instill in students these very values using the martial arts. Shihan believe this to be an ongoing process and not something to be achieved in a month, or year, but rather over a life time of education and effort.

Shihan has chosen the S.T.A.R program because it is the perfect complement to our philosophy. S.T.A.R. will provide an ongoing, systemmatic method of teaching the core values on which our program is based.

S.T.A.R is designed to teach students to: .Accept the consequences of their actions .Use S.T.A.R. Stop Think Act Review decision making to solve problems and resolve conflict .Develop and improve self-confidence, self-esteem, and positive attitudes. .Set and achieve realistic goals. .Accept that attendance at class,punctuality, are part of being personally responsible.

We have a State of Art infrastructre in our academy, starting with safety mats on training floor, modern wave masters, military exercise drills, just to mention a few. The academy is fully airconditioned, has its own coffee and soft drinks facilites, making it comfortable for parents to sit back and watch. This site is designed to give you information about our facility, our style of martial arts, our staff and provide you with information on how to contact us as well.

Why is CMA one of the best choice?

The separate activities we are already doing to teach values and responsibliity at the academy, can now be brought under one unifying program. .This will impact the student more by showing how all actions in the dojo are part of our effect to teach personal responsibility. .Provide a systematic way for us to adopt new ideas -all proposals are evaluated interms of how they can be brought under the S.T.A.R.program and used to further the character education of our students.

Because S.T.A.R. is a lauguage based program, instructors should fined ways to stress to the students the importance of acting responsibly. The lauguage of responsibility should be used through out the entire class period; S.T.A.R.concept should be referred to even when teaching techniques,eg. In the area of personal Responsibility Education, our goal is to make, Stop, Think, Act, Review a life time habit for our students.
